SPARTA, Ill. -- Donald Ray Windeknecht, 67, of Sparta died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Randolph County Care Center in Sparta.
He was born Jan. 15, 1935, at Cape Girardeau, son of Charles and Emma Darsy McLain Windeknecht. He and Judith Ann Russell were married Dec. 9, 1984, at Cahokia, Ill.
He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed as a maintenance worker for Big River Zinc.
Survivors include his wife; three stepdaughters, Sherrl Lovsey of Granite City, Ill., Debbie Browning of Shiloh, Ill., and Tina Hifmiester of Belleville, Ill.; two sons, Donald Bruce Windeknecht of Knoxville, Tenn., and Barry Keith Windeknecht of Rincon, Ga.; two stepsons, Clyde Browning of Shiloh and Clayton Browning of Millstadt, Ill.; two brothers, Nelson Rex Windeknecht of Waterloo, Ill., and Galen Stewart Windeknecht of Buckeye, Ariz.; four sisters, Ruth Ann Laclair and Judith Arlene Allen, both of Jackson, Doris Marie Washington of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Phyllis Kay Holcomb of Fredericktown, Mo.; five grandchildren; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Friends may call at McDaniel Funeral Home in Sparta from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Foster officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis.
