Letter to the Editor

Faulkner's works hard to read, but very rewarding

To the editor:

A Speak Out caller recently said that William Faulkner was a dud and that the Faulkner collection at Southeast Missouri State University was a waste of money. I am a student at Southeast. I can say that the Faulkner collection is well worth every cent spent. "The Picasso of Literature" -- according to Dr. Robert Hamblin -- is difficult to read. Using some intellect and analyzation of his text, he is more rewarding than anything you will find on the bestseller bookshelves today. I also happen to work in a local bookstore. We sell copies of Faulkner's books nearly daily. He's on someone's reading list, at least.
