Bill Howard, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born March 11, 1929, in Marion, Ill., son of Charles Oscar and Jessie Falsom Odum Howard. He and Mary Lou Howard were married Oct. 7, 1967, in St. Charles, Mo.

Howard was a maintenance worker 25 years at General Motors in St. Louis, retiring in 1980. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1998. He was a member of River City Workers of the Blind and Westside Senior Citizens.

He served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 12, 1950, to Sept. 12, 1952. He received the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Camp Star, United Nations Service Medal, and an overseas bar.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Jane Hance of Belle, Mo., Michelle Hendrix of Sturdivant, Mo., Shirley Luczak of Wentzville, Mo., Marilyn Koeppel of Columbia, Mo.; and a stepson, Mike Meyer of Cape Girardeau.

Also surviving are two brothers, Charles and Jack Howard of Warsaw, Mo.; four sisters, Dana Irwin of Perkins, Mo., Bonnie Lennington of Jackson, Virginia Osborne of Phoenix, Ariz., Ella Brewer of Marion; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, a granddaughter, and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Keith Price officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Advance, Mo.
