Jackson volleyball breezes to sweep over rival Central

JACKSON, Mo. -- Jackson's volleyball team improved its record to 8-1-1 by rolling past Cape Girardeau Central 15-0, 15-3 Tuesday night.

Jeniffer Mesey led the way with five kills and Courtney Vance had five assists. Jenna Leet had two kills and three service aces. Jennifer Farrell finished off Central with six service points.

The Indians' JV (2-3) won 15-1, 15-5.

Scott City 15-15-15 Dexter 12-17-8

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Scott City (12-4-2) used a balanced attack to win a hard fought three-set match.

Shana Wadlington had nine kills and four blocks to lead the way. Amanda O'Brien and Megan Ressel had 14 and 16 assists, respectively.

Oran 10-15-15 Chaffee 15-11-7

ORAN, Mo. -- Oran (5-5-3) nabbed a close win over Chaffee.

Teresa Hodges had six service points, six kills and five blocks. Jessica Prino scored 14 service points and added seven assists. Amber Seyer had three kills and four blocks. Candice Duncan contributed 14 points and six digs.

For Chaffee (0-5), Jennifer Vandeven led the way with 10 points and 10 kills. Molly Fowler added eight digs, Natolie Townsend had seven kills and Ashton Lee had 26 assists.

Oran's JV (2-1) defeated Chaffee 15-5, 18-16.

St. Vincent 15-15 St. Pius 13-3

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. -- St. Vincent (6-6-2) defeated St. Pius to pull back to .500.

Dani Emmendorfer had 10 assists for St. Vincent. Sierra Paulus added five digs and Danielle Schremp had three kills.

St. Vincent's JV (4-4-1) lost 15-10, 15-4.

Meadow Heights 15-15

Valle 12-8

PATTON, Mo. -- Meadow Heights (6-4-1) defeated Valle in straight sets.

Jill Haas had 10 kills and 20 digs. Chelsea Bollinger had 10 kills and 28 digs. Jenna Ellis added eight kills and 19 digs and Rachael Welker had 35 assists.

Meadow Heights' JV lost 15-10, 10-15, 15-8.

Zalma 15-15 Oak Ridge 10-12

OAK RIDGE, Mo. -- Oak Ridge (2-6) had few highlights in a straight-set loss.

For Oak Ridge, Cassie Ludwig had four kills and Erin Hahs added three.

Oak Ridge's JV (2-1) prevailed 15-6, 15-9.

Eagle Ridge 15-15 New Salem Baptist 7-10

In a battle of local private schools, Eagle Ridge (3-1) came out on top in straight sets.

Cara Ervin led Eagle Ridge with 15 kills. Savanna Irizzary chipped in eight points with a service ace.

For New Salem (2-2), Sarah Green had three kills and four digs. Mary Poole chipped in six assists and three kills.

Hillsboro 16-15 Perryville 14-12

HILLSBORO, Mo. -- Perryville (4-7-3) fell to Hillsboro in straight sets.

Kaci Schremp led the way with nine kills, six digs and seven blocks. Stephanie Landholt added six points and Lisa Pecaut had 16 assists.


Central 5, Jackson 4

The Tigers (6-0) remained perfect in duals with a victory in their first-ever match at their new home courts.

Lauren Sulser collected victories in singles and doubles to lead the way.

Central's JV won 18-4.


Central 7, Sikeston 1

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Central (5-4-1) scored early and often during a blowout victory over Sikeston .

Heath Orr continued his strong season with two goals and two assists. Calen Wills added a goal and two assists and Luke Kester scored two second-half goals. Whit Lynn and Bryan Ross added the other goals for Central.

Central JV shut out Sikeston 3-0.


Farmington 18, Central 6

Central's freshmen team (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season to Farmington.

Ty Craft threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Scott Dunaway, but Central could not overcome its five turnovers.--From staff reports
