God led pastor to home; Ameren made the repair

To the editor:

On Wednesday I stopped by the home of an elderly lady to bring her the Lord's Supper since she is unable to get to church on a regular basis.

Upon entering her home, I smelled a rather strong odor of gas. She said it had been there for about three or four days. With her permission, I called Ameren UE to report it.

Ameren immediately dispatched Robert Debrower. He discovered a gas leak in the old brass flex connector on her gas range. He said Ameren would replace it free of charge with a stainless steel flex connector, which he proceeded to do.

Robert was very courteous, efficient and thorough in fulfilling his duties as an employee of Ameren. I commend him for his professionalism.

I thank him and Ameren for taking care of a situation which, if not corrected, possibly could have resulted in the death of this lady and perhaps even have blown up the house.

So many times we do nothing but complain about people and the work they do. This is not a complaint. It is a sincere word of commendation and appreciation. Ameren is fortunate to have workers like Robert. We in the public domain are fortunate to have such workers. Thanks again.

And, needless to say, I do believe our good and gracious God guided and directed me to make this house call on the day that I did make it.

Thank you, Lord.
