Positive attitude for start of school in Cape

Cape Girardeau school superintendent Mark Bowles may be one of the most positive people on the planet.

He's facing a difficult first day of school as a major reshuffling takes place with the opening of the new Central High School building. The new state-of-the-art building is on Silver Springs Road, but whether that road will be paved or still under construction is up in the air.

Bowles would like at least the part of the road up to the bus entrance to be completed so school buses can get in and out with ease. Currently, there's an asphalt driveway that connects the back of the school property with Mount Auburn Road.

But Bowles seems unflappable.

"There's just so much good attached to this new school, you can't focus on what's not going as well," he said this week.

Everyone involved with the start of school would do well to share his attitude on what could turn out to be a stressful day.
