Medicaid cuts on medications hurt the elderly

To the editor:

It's a crying shame what Gov. Bob Holden has done to the elderly, especially those in nursing homes, who are the very people who voted for him to be governor.

As we all know by now, the governor has caused Medicaid to quit paying for over-the-counter medicines. Some of these are the very things that the elderly in nursing homes need -- for example, Tylenol for pain, Maalox for indigestion and cough medicine. The elderly don't have money to buy these medicines nor relatives who can pay for them. What money they have goes to pay to stay in a nursing home.
