When did minority gain upper hand?

To the editor:

I do not understand the reason for declaring the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional because it contains the words "under God." The pledge does not define the word "God." The dictionary describes God as being of more than human attributes and powers, a deity, the supreme being, the eternal and infinite spirit.

It appears to me that all religions are covered. The only people who could object to that would be atheists. The dictionary describes an atheist as a godless person who denies the existence of a supreme being.

I have always thought of the United States as a democracy governed by the majority vote of the population. When did the country start giving in to the demands of the minority voices concerning the lives of the majority?
