  • The Jackson American Legion will open its season at 6 p.m. at home against Charleston.

  • The Cape Girardeau Junior American Legion will host DeSoto at 5:30 p.m.

  • Southeast at Busch Day will feature as many as 1,000 local fans going to see the Cardinals play the Pirates at Busch Stadium. Info: 651-5159.

  • A women's scramble at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course will benefit the Southeast volleyball program. Info: 651-2997.

  • A 5K run and walk Saturday will begin at the Osage Community Centre at 8 a.m. Proceeds go to the Special Olympics. Info: 332-7300.

  • The Tywappity Trail 5K begins at 9 a.m. at Chaffee and winds around Lake Tywappity. Info: 887-3555. n The NSA Worth Tournament of Champions will feature a field of softball teams at Shawnee Park Sports Complex, a qualifier for the state tournament in Columbia. Info: 334-2523.

  • Auto Tire and Parts Racepark hosts its biggest racing event of the season, a $5,000-to-win World of Outlaws Gumout Series sprint event at 7 p.m.

  • The Cape Girardeau Senior Babe Ruth A's host New Madrid in their opener at 2 p.m.

  • The Heartland Cyclones Classic at Jackson City Park is open to players age 18 and under. Info: 243-4691.

  • The Ed Nunnelee Memorial Tournament in Sikeston is expected to attract the region's top tennis players for a three-day event. Proceeds go toward a Sikeston High School scholarship fund. Info: 471-4188 or 472-2080.

  • A tournament in Sikeston will feature up to 16 teams from across the region. Info: 471-5469.

  • The Sikeston Country Club and Perryville Country Club each kick off two-day scrambles.
