ANNA, Ill. -- Carl Lee Smith, 72, of Anna died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Union County Hospital.

He was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Alto Pass, Ill., son of Willie Smith and Nora Gettins Smith. He and Laura A. Clutts were married Sept. 29, 1979, in Alto Pass.

Smith retired from the city of Anna Utility Department, where he worked 33 years. He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Esther Willicut of Anna, Estel Thomas of St. Louis, Lilly Roberts of Cahokia, Ill.; and a brother, William Smith of Jonesboro, Ill.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
