Inside Heisman winner sits out first day

A pulled hamstring has reduced Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch to spectator status at the St. Louis Rams' minicamp this weekend, largely putting the first stage of his conversion from quarterback to wide receiver on hold.
Crouch, who was drafted in the third round a week ago out of Nebraska, injured his right leg trying to execute a slant pattern about an hour into a workout Monday.
"I was running some routes and thinking I'd better look good by the time I get there," Crouch said. "But it's just a slight pull, a two-week thing."
Coach Mike Martz said Crouch was being held out as a precaution.
"Those things become chronic if you don't let them completely heal," Martz said. "That's what I'm concerned about."
But while Crouch sat out, the Rams got their first look at other picks from last week's draft. Story, Page 3
