Democrat leaders in Senate drag their feet on trade

To the editor:

As the April 15 tax deadline approaches, Americans are taking a hard look at the family budget and reviewing what they owe, what they spent and what they saved. As you send your tax form to Washington, it's important for you to know who in Washington is fighting for you.

One way Washington can help the family budget is to send the president legislation providing trade promotion authority and the Andean Trade Preferences Act. Fair trade is good for American small businesses, farmers, ranchers and entrepreneurs, not to mention the family budget. The House passed bipartisan legislation months ago. So why are Democrat leaders in the Senate dragging their feet?
