For Lou Hobbs, life is what you make it

The Lou Hobbs story is full of hardship, persistence, grit and now a battle with a disease that would challenge even the strongest among us. The themes of this real-life story sound familiar -- like the lyrics of many of the hundreds of rockabilly songs Hobbs has written and performed over the 40 years of his professional career.

For nearly 16 years, the Hobbs brand of music was a fixture on KFVS-TV. The homespun broadcasts of "The Lou Hobbs Show" had a good many homemade qualities to them, but Hobbs' fans never cared much for fancy or slick. Indeed, Hobbs has become quite a hit to a loyal European audience.

Now Hobbs faces life with Parkinson's disease. But it is his upbeat attitude and his determination to keep plugging away at his music, even if it's difficult to play his guitar, that provide a source of inspiration to many others who have Parkinson's or are enduring some other debilitating disease.

Good luck, Lou. Your many fans wish the best in the days and years ahead.
