SIKESTON, Mo. -- Josie Boyd Eckles, 70, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 15, 1931, at Hayti, Mo., daughter of Moses and Rosie Townsend Wright. She first married Josh Boyd Sept. 13, 1948. She later married Henry Eckles Aug. 27, 1979.
Eckles attended school in the Bell City, Mo., area. She was a licensed daycare provider and member of St. John Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Josh Boyd Jr. and Moses Boyd of Sikeston, Aron Boyd of Springfield, Ill.; five daughters, Brenda Grant, Laura Boyd and Stephanie Price of Sikeston, Sherry and Linda Boyd of Springfield, Ill.
Also surviving are six stepsons, Hosea Gladney, W.C. and Joe Eckles of Memphis, Tenn., Henry Eckles Jr. of St. Louis, Mike and Joseph Eckles of Sikeston; three stepdaughters, Prince Gibson and Vercie Redd of St. Louis, Ennise Eckles of Sikeston; 40 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call at Cornerstone Baptist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Major Lucious officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
