Letter to the Editor

Perilous times may be result of our attitudes

To the editor:

I miss walks after dinner in the summer evenings.

I miss knowing who my neighbors are, if they're well or need help.

I miss children who have respect for other people.

I miss the family gatherings -- other than a reunion.

I miss seeking kids playing in the park without fear of abduction or molestation.

I miss feeling comfortable in a movie theater.

I miss road courtesy.

I miss people who will give you back the right change.

I miss the time when America was the place to come to for freedom and peace, not a target for idiots.

But, alas, I'm talking in the past. Have we given it all away because of our own selfishness and greed? I hope not.

We don't support our own police officers, firefighters and social workers. Why should anyone else?
