Sikeston stories spur residents to get involved

To the editor:

I just wanted to touch base to let you know that your articles on Sikeston were outstanding. The articles seem to have opened the eyes of the community in many ways. From the comments and remarks that I have received, people are wanting to get involved and do something positive. This is very encouraging. I had one banker call and say that he thought that your article on me was excellent. He wants to meet with me to discuss ways in which a Big Brothers and Sisters Program or a Boys and Girls Club could be started in Sikeston and also build a building to accommodate the program. He added that he knows of some investors who may be interested in this type of project. I will be meeting with him. I will keep you posted on the results. Give the rest of your staff a heartfelt thank you for me.
