A public hearing was held on a request for rezoning from Kenneth and Tonia Hebrock for the corner lot at Lincoln and Warner to be rezoned from R-1 to C-1. The council voted to accept the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission to allow the rezoning.
Eric Grigery appeared before the council concerning the alley behind his house and presented a petition signed by three property owners outside the city limits, asking the rear easement be taken out, which goes through their property and is county property. After discussion on the matter, Mayor Porch suggested this be turned over to the Public Works Committee for review.
Juanita Sammelman expressed concern to the council regarding survey markers on North Street being 6 feet from the front door of the house. Porch stated a request was made to widen North Street and a survey was done to determine where the city's easement is for when the street is widened. This will be checked by the Public Works Committee.
Delores Mantos of 607 Seventh St. requested that a street light be installed on Seventh Street. It was decided that since all utilities were underground, a pole would have to be installed, and AmerenUE will have to be contacted to get a price. This was turned over to the Public Works Committee for its review. Mantos also expressed concern over low water pressure. She was told that when the well in old Illmo was turned off, that caused the low pressure. Porch assured her that the problem would be taken care of when the new water treatment plant is put in.
Tyrone Thompson, who is the new executive director of the Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission, appeared before the council to introduce himself . He stated he took over the position on June 1 and offered the city any services his group had that the city could use.
Bill 688 was presented amending the city code relating to dispersing of unclaimed and abandoned property and was adopted by the council to become Ordinance 697 of the City of Scott City.
