Harley owner gives Cape rally high praise

To the editor:

I just wanted to drop you a note about the HOG rally that was held in your city this past weekend. I am a member of the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Harley Owners Group and attended from Thursday night through Sunday. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for a wonderful time and to congratulate Cape Girardeau for its friendly citizens and for making us feel so welcome. The experience was great, and that is due largely to how we were met by the people of your town. I was approached by all kinds of people, from grandmothers to schoolkids, asking about my motorcycle and thanking me for coming to town.

Sometimes when you're dressed in leather and tired from a long day of riding you get some strange looks from people, but that was never the case in Cape Girardeau. And seeing the streets lined with families and curious onlookers as the parade went by on Saturday was wonderful.

One final component bears mentioning: the services provided by local law enforcement. They did a fine job of handling the rally and were always friendly and helpful.

I would gladly attend another rally in Cape Girardeau and will make it a point to stop in whenever I am in that part of the state again. I hope your town feels the same about us. Like everyone else, we HOG members like to have a good time, but we also take great pride in the kind of impression we leave. I hope we left a good one. You surely did your part.BRUCE L STIMPSON
