THE PUBLIC MIND: VOICE OF RESTRAINT IN GULF PROVIDES RELIEF

To the Editor:

It is very encouraging to hear creditable voices increasingly calling for restraint in the headlong rush toward military confrontation in the Middle East.

Under present circumstances, it would seem much more productive for the Administration to replace its "bellicose and belligerent" rhetoric with encouragement for the troops about the wisdom and courage required for strategically "out waiting" and un-nerving the adversary.

It would be a relief for families to known that their loved ones are also being trained to have the greater courage to face boredom in the present routine instead of being a candidate for a body bag.
