THE PUBLIC MIND: AT LAST, WILL REPUBLICAN BE BLAMED FOR THE `R' WORD?

To the Editor:

Periodically over the past few years Peter Kinder has entertained us with articles bragging about the economic expansion engendered by the Reagan/Bush deficits.

While Republican Administrations were sending deficit budgets up to the Hill and enjoying the benefits of economic expansion purchased with this debt-spending Peter kept telling us how wonderful it was. He always wanted the Republicans to have credit for the brilliant economic planning which caused expansion at the cost of debt.

Now, I keep waiting for one of his columns concerning the "R" word. Now that debt spending has come home to roost, is he going to blame the Democrats for the "R" word? If all this economic expansion was to the credit of the Republicans, what about the "R" word? Are you prepared to deal with the "R" word, Peter?

Is it an accident that the Reagan/Bush deficits have brought us to this point? Is it the Democrats' fault for ratifying the Reagan/Bush budgets? Did all your columns bragging about the good economic times mean nothing? Is it now the Democrats' fault? What about the "R" word, Peter?

P.S. The "R" stands for recession.
