LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: DON'T BACK OFF ON WHITEWATER STORIES

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

Dear Editor:

I am watching C-Span, and the feeling I get is that the media are backing off Whitewater. Could it be that they are afraid this is destroying the Clinton Presidency? Or the stock market? So what? Have you noticed that the Clinton administration is about control? The handgun ban, cigarette ban (as a drug), the national education board, the national health board? And I am a longtime Democrat.

The picture I get from the sound coming out of Arkansas is of a bunch of take-care-of-each-other, dishonest, money-grabbing "in" people.

The problem is that so many people don't think they can do anything about political crooks.

I saw the ex-partner, McDougal, yesterday. Why won't Hillary give him the copies of the Whitewater records so that he can do his income taxes?

I take the Missourian down here still because although you are in an area of much less population, you print more news than the local paper.

Keep up the good work.

P.S. Florida may pass a casino law. Your news analysis of Lady Luck and Boyd should be useful to our leaders here in bargaining. Thank you for your extensive coverage.
