LETTERS: PETITION FOR LAKE PROJECT

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

To the editor:

On Aug. 3 a small group of individuals met in Marble Hill. The meeting was intended to kick off a petition drive in an effort to get the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger lake issue placed on the November 1996 ballot.

Members of this group previously had met with the Bollinger County Commission and informed the commissioners of the interest in the lake and the intentions of the group to circulate a petition.

When informed of the planned petition drive, the commissioners didn't express any comments that led us to believe it was against their wishes.

It is important to the members of this group that they not be seen as a group organized to do something against the wishes of the Bollinger County commissioners. This group is not now and has no desire to be at adds with the Bollinger County commissioners.
