LETTER: DOCS READY TO TAKE ON LAWYER HOOPSTERS

To the editor:

Some say that lawyers thrive on misery. Others say that lawyers flourish upon the misfortunes of others. If this be true, then indeed the lawyers will be in a blissful state tonight after they are handily defeated for the second straight year by the out-of-shape but more focused and dedicated doctors in the basketball game for the benefit of the Community Counseling Center Foundation. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Central High School gym.

The Community Counseling Center plays an important role offering expertise and guidance to those who otherwise couldn't afford it.

We have no scouting reports, but we feel confident that we again will be receiving a host of post-game excuses following another scintillating victory -- excuses like they can't play hurt, they are younger and in better shape, they don't know what to do when asked to go to court and they are more susceptible to injury.

The bottom line is that this is for a good cause. If the lawyers play by the rules (a possibility?), then their Dream Team will be exactly that: a dream. But considering their penchant for misfortune, a good time should be had by all.
