LETTER: LAWYERS, DOCS GOING TO COURT

To the editor:

Some siad the doctors attacked their team. Others said when the game got close they resorted to gorilla tactics. The docs claim they simply scored the most points (really?). In the end, local sports fans were stunned last year when a bunch of old, out-of-shape doctors managed to win a narrow victory over the hometown favorites, Cape Girardeau's lawyers.

On Feb. 10, the lawyers will have a chance for revenge. the two teams hit the court at 7:30 p.m. in Cape Girardeau Central High School's new gym to benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation.

Our early scouting reports indicate that Dr. Jon Foley should be no more of a scoring threat than last year (I get to guard him). Two of their new players, Dr. Connie Simmons and Dr. Brian Stevens, have some talent but could be intimidated by the presence of 15 or 20 lawyers in one room.

Get ready, docs, because O.J. isn't te only guy fielding a dream team of lawyers. No matter how many plays Coach Reuss develops, no matter how many three-pointers Dr. Leet puts up, Cape's Dream Team will be there to respond.
