LETTERS: ANTIBIOTICS WARNING

To the editor:

I want to commend Dr. James L. Fletcher Jr. and his lengthy and excellently written letter on the possible dangers of the excessive use of antibiotics and penicillin that can result in severe reactions and cause allergies to occur.

I was a victim of that mistake myself at one time.

Not being told by a physician that an antibiotic should not, at any time, be taken on an empty stomach, I had a severe reaction.

I agree with Dr. Fletcher that many a cold and minor illness just take time in healing.

It is too bad that some physicians will prescribe too quickly.

I want to thank Dr. Fletcher for his honesty and openness. He is truly to be admired.
