LETTERS; A HEART TWISTING IN PAIN

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

To the editor:

Lonely, so lonely. No one cared.

Afraid, hurting. No one noticed.

No one took time to see

A heart twisting in pain, a soul tortured with fear.

The ball sailed down the field.

The crowd cheered. Hands clapped. Faces smiled.

No! I can't. I never. I would fall, face in the dirt, miss the ball.

The pain. The shame. I can't.

A heart twisting in pain, and a tortured soul groaned.

The room was full of smiling faces.

Smiles faded. Heads turned away. I cried.

No one heard. No one saw the pain.

A heart twisted with loneliness and shame.

A tortured soul groaned.

I have heard that God cares.

The teacher said we could not

Talk about God in the classroom.

Maybe we have something in

Common after all.

Tell, me God. Are you crying?

Does it hurt when no one thinks you are important?

When no one listens? When no one cares?

A twisted heart broke open. Blood runs red.

A tortured soul faded away, and God cried.
