LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: COUNTY P&Z OFFERS PROTECTION ON INVESTMENT

To the editor:

I have noticed in the paper many people are against planning and zoning in Cape Girardeau County. If they use their heads and think about it, they should vote for it.

I have had people tell me they are moving to the country so they can do what they want to do. That's true, but don't forget your neighbor can do what he wants to do also, and you may not like what he is going to do.

If you want to see what no planning and zoning looks like, come on down I-55. Get off at the Benton exit. Go east on Highway 77 for a few miles. Look to your left, and you will get the picture.

It recently cost almost half a million dollars to get rid of a huge pile of abandoned tires that were left there. Down the road a few miles is an abandoned race track no longer in use. There are some nice homes down the county road from it, but some owners sold out and left because of the noise the race track generated when it was in operation.

So if you are against P&Z, think about it. P&Z offers you some protection on your investment.
