LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: PROPOSITION A: WE HAVE PLENTY OF BILLBOARDS

To the editor:

I just read the Sept. 10 editorial about Proposition A regarding billboards.

I sure hope Missourians will vote for Proposition A so that no more billboards will be put up. In the last couple of months, there have been approximately 10 big billboards put up between I-55 and Jackson. Why? Are we supposed to watch the road or the billboards?

It used to be a nice drive when I had to go to Jackson. But now? It's cluttered with buildings, billboards and industrial parks.

And you tell me I should vote no on Proposition A? This is a free country, and I will vote the way I want. Don't we have plenty of billboards?

Cape Girardeau is supposed to be the City of Roses. Now it is the City of Billboards. You can come from I-55 on Route K, and all you see is billboards, motels, restaurants and so on. The traffic is so congested it is no longer fun to drive anywhere.

So to all the voters: Vote to stop putting more billboards up.
