LETTERS: QUOTE ABOUT GOD NEEDS CLARIFICATION

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

To the editor:

I would like to clarify a quote attributed to me in an article in Thursday's paper covering the panel discussion dealing with gender and God. In the final paragraph, the article quoted me as saying, "The experience of God is not objective but subjective." In the discussion, I said that an experience of God was not totally subjective but included both objective and subjective dimensions. The subjective dimension is who we are and what we bring to the experience. The objective dimension is who God is. When a person has an experience with God, the person does not experience maleness or femaleness, but love, faithfulness, affirmation and wholeness.
