LETTERS: FRENCH VIEW OF US WILL GET SOME HELP

To the editor:

I take issue with the popular misconception we Americans have of the French. My wife and I have traveled to Paris and find the people polite, friendly and helpful.

The urban myth of the confused American tourist being treated rudely by the French is classic but not accurate. A view of us, on the other hand, by the French may be overweight, gun-loving hillbillies who whine about the price of gasoline and enjoy NASCAR and WWF wrestling.

The next time I'm in France, I will tell them this is not accurate. Only half of Americans are this way.
