LETTERS: NEW ROUNDABOUT IS DYSFUNCTIONAL -- AND UNHEALTHY

To the editor:

If Cape Girardeau taxpayers think all the unrepaired potholes are a sign the street department and the city fathers do not love you, you are wrong. For your edification you need to drive to the intersection of Silver Springs Road and Gordonville Road to check out the new roundabout. The city has gone to untold expense to install this dysfunctional monstrosity for your driving pleasure. It may be a hazard to your driving health, especially your mental well-being. But it is pleasing to the eye. You will note, however, that not all drivers have found this traffic circle to their liking and have left tire marks on all the new concrete curbs as they gracefully maneuvered around the roundabout. If you are driving a vehicle larger than a Volkswagen Bug, you will probably wonder why this thing is in the middle of the road. So do I.
