Local businesses have been the target of a rash of bold robberies. These are just the kind of robberies that could prove very dangerous. Police need the community's eyes and ears to break these string of robberies.

The recent crimes:

-- Carol's Hallmark, 2136 William, was robbed at 8 p.m. Sept. 15. The clerk was handed a note that said the robber had a weapon.

-- Pier 1 Imports was robbed at about 8 p.m. Sept. 16. Again, a man approached the cash register and demanded money.

-- Patrick's Cleaners, 1215 Broadview, was robbed about 5:45 p.m. Sept. 18. The robber demanded cash and fled on foot.

-- Rhodes Travel Center, 3408 Nash Road, was the target about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 21. The man displayed a weapon and fled on foot.

Helping to crack these cases could also earn an anonymous tipster money. The Southeast Missouri Crime Stoppers has offered cash rewards for information leading to an arrest in these cases. The Crime Stoppers line is 1-573-332-0500 or *500 on Ameritech cellular phones.

Do your duty. Get some cash. That's the beauty of Crime Stoppers.
