It isn't often that any football team falls behind by a score of 31-0 and goes on to win the game. Yet that is the amazing feat accomplished by Tim Billings' Southeast Missouri State University Indians on Saturday in Carbondale, Ill., against SIU, a team that had beaten the Indians in nine of the last 11 encounters.

Billings, his team and entire coaching staff are to be congratulated for pulling off this amazing comeback in a display of superb coaching, true character and never-say-die attitude. Let's be clear: most teams would have just laid down and quit. These Indians didn't. Their heart-stopping, 34-33 victory will live forever in the annals of Southeast athletics. Here's hoping a large and enthusiastic corps of appreciative fans shows up Saturday to cheer them on in their home opener against nationally ranked Illinois State.
