CONSTITUENTS AS WELL AS CITY AND STATE OFFICIALS WISH THE BEST FOR MARY AND MEL KASTEN

Even though family concerns have kept Mary and Mel Kasten from their official duties as state representative and city councilman, they can take comfort in the support and kind words they have received from their constituents and their colleagues in the Missouri House of Representatives and Cape Girardeau City Council.

Both of the Kastens have devoted much of their lives to this community. Mary served 20 years on the Cape Girardeau Board of Education and then the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents before winning election to the House. Dr. Mel's busy medical career as a surgeon didn't prevent him from seeking and winning a seat on the City Council.

Due to some health problems, Mel has been unable to attend recent council meetings. Mary has chosen to tend to his needs rather than go to Jefferson City. Many folks here at home and around the state pray for the best for both of them in the days ahead.
