UNIVERSITY IS ACCREDITED FOR ANOTHER DECADE

Southeast Missouri State University this month received a 10-year re-accreditation from the Commission on Institutes of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities.

Whew, what a mouthful. But the long title is an important one.

With every accreditation, current and prospective students are reassured that their decision to attend Southeast is the right one.

The review team, which visited the campus in October, had a few suggestions for the school. They included issues with technology, classroom scheduling and faculty diversity -- only a few items out of the hundreds considered.

"We came out with flying colors," said Dr. Ken Dobbins, university president.

Certainly, it's a record to be proud of. And now Southeast can enjoy its accredited status until the 2010-11 school year, the next time the review team is scheduled to return.
