11th Annual Tour de Shawnee Bike Ride

The Best Little Ride in the Midwest!

11th ANNUAL TOUR DE SHAWNEE BIKE RIDE

The water has finally subsided in Alexander County and the highway department is doing everything they can to clean up the debris and repair the damaged roads. The Tour de Shawnee Committee has been out assessing the roads to make sure that we prepare the safest possible routes for all the cyclists who will be riding in the 11th Annual Tour de Shawnee bike ride scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2019.

The ride originates at the Horseshoe Lake Community Center located on State Highway 3 in Olive Branch, Illinois. Riders may choose from a Century ride (100 miles), a Metric Century (60 miles), a Mid-length ride (30 miles) or a Leisurely ride (15 miles). The routes will wind through terrain that includes easy-ride flat stretches, rolling hills and for those wanting more than rolling hills, there are a few challenging hills. Conveniently located along the routes, you will find unique rest stops with great hospitality, food, beverages and clean restrooms.

Cyclists can register online at www.tourdeshawnee.org. Further information can be found on the Tour de Shawnee Facebook page. The registration fee is $40. Registrations received prior to October 10th are guaranteed a free event tee shirt, we will not have shirts available for purchase the day of the event. Children age 14 and under ride free with a registered adult rider. Our on-site check in and registration begins Friday, October 25 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and includes dinner. The Community Center will open Saturday, October 26 at 7:00 a.m. and the Tour de Shawnee bike ride will begin at 8:00 a.m. The event ends at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th. Sag support will only be available until 5:00 p.m. so we ask that everyone please do their best to be off the route by then.

Registration is open!

All proceeds from the event, as well as the tourism money generated during your travels here, will benefit the local community. One of the ways we use the funds raised is to provide scholarships to seniors from several of the schools in two of our local counties.
