Nestled in Jackson is a business 40 years and three generations in the making. Strickland Engineering began in 1979, when Thomas Strickland recognized the demand for consulting engineering in Southeast Missouri.

Mark and Brian Strickland, Tom's sons, have spent most of their engineering careers at the company.

"I always knew I was going to be an engineer," says Mark, who joined Strickland Engineering in 1992. "Dad put in long hours, and that's the root of our success."

Brian joined the company in 1999 after spending four years with the City of Cape Girardeau.

"By the time we came on board, Dad already had a great company," he says. "I'm realizing how hard he worked to get the business started."

After graduating from Missouri University of Science and Technology, Caleb Strickland, Mark's son, officially joined the family business in January 2019, making it a three-generation company.

Strickland Engineering employs 17 team members across various departments and has clients across the country. "We're very blessed," Tom says.

Mark agrees. "We want to continue living up to and exceeding the standards we've come to be known for. We look forward to what the next 40 years brings."
