Fern Evelyn Statler, 96, of Jackson died Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Monticello House.
She was born April 12, 1922, in Cape Girardeau to August Louis and Emma Louise Suedekum Wessel. She and Paul Eugene Statler were married May 27, 1942, at Jackson. He preceded her in death May 29, 1999.
Fern graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School and was a member of the 1943 graduating class at Southeast Missouri State University.
She taught bookkeeping and stenography at Perryville (Missouri) High School.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Survivors include her two sons, Keith (Kay) Statler of Huntersville, North Carolina, and Brian (Cathi) Statler of Ellisville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Karen (Joe) Elmendorf of Grafton, Wisconsin, Eric (Tricia) Statler of Indianapolis, Christopher (Kristin) Statler of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jennifer Statler of St. Louis; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Gary E. Statler; and two brothers, Wilbur and A.L. Wessel.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Longman officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
