LOCAL GIRL SCOUT VOLUNTEERS RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE

Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland recently recognized area volunteers for their outstanding service in Girl Scouting at its 2018 Recognitions Ceremony in Springfield, MO.

The Volunteer of Excellence Pin was presented to Cape Girardeau resident Vicki McLemore. The Volunteer of Excellence Pin recognizes volunteers for outstanding service in direct partnership with girls or who have contributed outstanding service in support of our council’s mission delivery to girl and adult members.

The Appreciation Pin was presented to Cape Girardeau resident Dawn Kirby. The Appreciation Pin recognizes volunteers for exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This service, which has had measurable impact on one geographic area of service, helps to reach and surpass the mission delivery goals of the area.

“It is because of the commitment, generosity, and heart of our volunteers that girls across our council grow in courage, gain confidence, and develop character,” said CEO Anne Soots. “We offer our congratulations and deep appreciation to our volunteers who have given their time to mentor and change the lives of girls.”

About the Girl Scout Leadership Experience

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. With 2.6 million girl and adult members worldwide, Girl Scouts is the leading authority on girls' healthy development. Girl Scouts is proven to help girls thrive in five key ways as they: develop a strong sense of self, seek challenges and learn from setbacks, display positive values, form and maintain healthy relationships, and identify and solve problems in the community. Everything a Girl Scout does centers around STEM, the outdoors, development of life skills, and entrepreneurship, and is designed to meet her where she is now and to grow along with her.
