For the Gamma Nu Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta, the month of April is all about giving back to the community. The 114 member organization participated in many different events this month to give back to their Philanthropy, Autism Speaks and support the Southeast Community through the University's annual Greek Week Events. The first week of April kicked off the sorority's philanthropy week for Autism Speaks. There was an informational booth inside the University Center where they informed and educated people on Autism Awareness and sold pop-sockets, tattoos, and bracelets to go towards the fundraising efforts. Alpha Xi Delta also hosted the 3rd annual, Mac N Cheese with Alpha Xi's event at their on campus house where Southeast students could come purchase a meal ticket for $5 and have dinner all while supporting a great cause! In total, Alpha Xi Delta's fundraising week raised $3510.98 all going towards Autism Speaks, their national philanthropy.

One of Alpha Xi Delta's favorite times of the year is Greek Week, and it is such an exciting time to give back to the community. Alpha Xi Delta members walked a mile to raise awareness for domestic violence and sexual assault, raised $680 at the first annual Shiver n' Slide which benefitted the Southeast Special Olympics, and donated 1,541 canned food items to the Southeast Food Pantry. Throughout the week Alpha Xi Delta, along with their Greek Week partners, Sigma Phi Epsilon, collected $373.48 in change during the Penny Wars event, and raised over $6,000 through other fundraising efforts which benefitted The United Way of Southeast Missouri. Alpha Xi Delta along with Sigma Phi Epsilon, placed second in fundraising against all other Chapters at Southeast Missouri State University, and received the first place award overall for the entire week. Greek Week is a week that Alpha Xi Delta holds close to their hearts because it is such a great opportunity to give back to the Southeast community in so many different ways. It is a time that the entire Greek Community comes together with one common goal, and it is a week that is continuously growing every year.

Alpha Xi Delta would like to extend a thank you to all the Alumnae, family, and friends for making all of this possible. A special thank you to Eden Garden for their donation to our fundraising efforts, and a special thank you to Buffalo Wild Wings for allowing us to host a fundraiser within your restaurant.
