Local Girl Scout troop earns Silver Award

Three girls from Cape Girardeau Girl Scout troop 70027 earned their Silver Award by building 10 raised dog cots, 2 agility jumps, and a set of weaving poles out of pvc pipes last summer. Katy Boehme, Kaylin Zoellner, and Tracy Antill presented their creations last Sunday to Safe Harbor Animal sanctuary and were also given their awards. The girls put in more than 35 hours of work to build and fundraise for their project. The Silver Award is the highest award a Cadette level Girl Scout can earn.

Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary director Montica Babers posed with the troop-and a few adoptable animals-at Safe Harbor on the rainy day the troop received their awards.
