Famous Clydesdales in Cape this week

The famous Budweiser Clydesdales are in Cape Girardeau this week, thanks to the requests of River Eagle and Drury Hotels.

The public can see the famous horses at different points throughout the week, including at the Cape Girardeau Police Headquarters from 10 a.m. to noon today; at a SEMO baseball game Friday starting at 5 p.m.; and in downtown Cape Girardeau on Saturday afternoon for a parade on Spanish and Main streets starting at 3 p.m.

According to ihearthorsescom:

* Clydesdales originated from Scotland more than two centuries ago.

* Clydesdales are known for giant feet which are as large as dinner plates (the average horse shoe weighs 5 pounds) four times the size of a thoroughbred shoe.

* The Clydesdale breed is more popular in the U.S. than anywhere else.

* An adult Clydesdale will eat 25 to 50 pounds of hay and 2 to 10 pounds of grain each day.
