Mary Inez Knott

Mary Inez Knott, 86, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Jackson to Martin H. and Mary Louise Steimel Sievers. She and Alphonse Knott were married Oct. 20, 1950, in Jackson. They had been married 49 years when Alphonse passed away Feb. 2, 2000.

Mary's employment included the Jackson Hosiery Mill, housekeeping at Southeast Hospital, and a certified nurse's aide at Monticello House and Auburn Creek, retiring in 2000.​

She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson, and enjoyed volunteering at the Missouri Veterans Home and the Jackson Senior Center.

Loving survivors include four children, Jackie Bollinger, Kathy (Joe) Touchette, Tom (Mary) Knott and Pattie (Chris) Vines, all of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Joe) Hobbs, Tyler Bollinger, Lauren (Rob) Erwin, Josh Schumacher, Jamie (Emma) Schumacher, Kelly (Whitney) Vines and Zach Vines; seven great-grandchildren; and special friend, Ralph Friga of Cape Girardeau.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
