What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?

Our children's education is first and foremost. I will bring a common sense approach to all decision making. Implementing policies that set our student's and staff up for success is my number one priority. I also believe in keeping our children active within the school and community.

What do you see as the opportunities and challenges in the district?

The opportunities for Scott County Central are endless. We will be able to do great things with the right people in place and open communication within our school and community. No matter what you are doing there are always challenges. When it comes to schools I think the hardest challenge is with the budget. Balancing the finances while keeping everybody happy will always be a challenge no matter where you are at.

What are your thoughts on the proposed debt service tax levy?

I personally feel that the proposed debt service tax levy is a need for Scott County Central. This is a chance to give our students and staff a better and safer working environment while not currently raising our taxes. You cannot put a price on a safe environment for our children or our teachers.

How will you communicate your work to your constituents?

All board members must be open and honest. Nothing will get accomplished if you do not have that. I think it is important to hear everybody's opinion without judgment before you come to any final decisions. Our number one priority is our students and staff, and feel that we have to do what is right for them. The school board is a team and if we work together we can accomplish great things.

What are the factors on which you will base your decisions as a school board member?

I graduated from Scotty County Central and currently have two children attending. I also have many family members that attend there. I want what is best for their education. I feel that there is room for growth within our school and feel like I can help make that happen by bringing a common sense approach to the board.
