Locals raise money for children's cancer research

There were lots of smiles and laughter when nine people had their heads shaved earlier this month.

The head-shaving event, organized by Andrea Allstun, raised money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which funds children's cancer research.

Allstun, who'd shaved her head in 2015 for the cause, was contacted by Jennifer Singleton, whose daughter Sarah is a childhood-cancer survivor. The pair hope it becomes an annual event.

Jennifer and her son Justin Singelton, Jackson school superintendent John Link, Joe Moss,Terri Bogues, Ron Fehr, Cathy Klaus, David Mincemeyer and 10-year-old Matthew Brees had their heads shaved, and raised $11,034.65 for St. Baldrick's in the process.

Donations are still being accepted at stbaldricks.org. You can donate to this local team by searching for Jackson MO Goes Bald.
