Individuals, businesses honored by Old Town Cape

Last Thursday, Old Town Cape held its annual dinner and doled out awards to people and businesses who've had a large role in the improvement of downtown Cape Girardeau.

Don Greenwood, a local arist whose designs decorate downtown and who lives, works eats and plays bongos downtown, was given the Charles L. Hutson award.

Kent and Vicki Zickfield were recognizd for their work on the Parade of Lights for the past 25 years.

Matt McDonald, who serves as co-pastor for City Church on Broadway, was named volunteer of the year.

Mississippi Mutts received the Business Excellence award.

Centurion Development LLC's Jason Coalter and Dustin Richardson received the Judith Ann Crow Residential Historic Rehabilitation award for efforts to make 23 Good Hope St. habitable.

For the renovation of 325 Broadway into the Rust Center for Media, Jon K. Rust, Rex Rust and Gary Rust II, of the Southeast Missourian, Rust Communications and rustmedia, received the John Boardman Excellence in Historic Rehabilitation award.
