Another new roundabout opens to traffic

Traffic moves through the new roundabout Monday at Independence Street and East Rodney Drive in Cape Girardeau. The intersection had been closed to traffic since early October. Federal grant money is paying 80 percent of the $741,000 project, with the remainder covered by the city's sales-tax-funded Transportation Trust Fund. Some paving work remains on the East Rodney approach.
