Immaculate Conception students to advance to state Lego League competition

Lego Robotics teams from Immaculate Conception School in Jackson competed in the First Lego League regional event at Southeast Missouri State University on Saturday, Nov. 19. The FIRST Lego League is a robotics competition that puts robots built from Lego Mindstorm kits through a themed obstacle course. Teams consisting of fourth to eighth graders design, build and program these robots. In addition, there is a project component to the competition.

All three of Immaculate Conception’s teams won in different categories. The “Savagebots” won the Core Values award in the Red Division. The “Legosaurus” team won the Core Values in the Blue Division. “Eaglebots” won Robot Design and Field Competition for the Blue Division, and they won Overall Championship for the entire competition, which entitles them to advance to the state level. State competition will be on December 4, 2016 in Ferguson, MO. Coaches for Immaculate Conception Lego teams are: Renee Deken, Lynn Dennis, and Karen Engelen.
