Our location in America’s heartland gives us the advantage of meeting and learning from a variety of people to find out what is most important to them during the holidays, as well as gives JCPenney associates an opportunity to make an impact on our local community.

This year JCPenney associates, led by Merchandise Supervisor Mariah Montgomery, decided to “Make This Holiday Worth It” by adopting the local CASA chapter as well as Capetown Assisted Living.

CASA Court Appointed Special Advocates “is a network of community-based programs that recruit, train and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates—empowered directly by the courts—offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care.”

Capetown is a vital part of Cape Girardeau’s senior care continuum. “Some companies talk about customer service. At Capetown, assisted living Hometown Hospitality is felt the moment you walk through the door. Creating a sense of family for our residents, their loved ones and our care partners – that’s what Hometown Hospitality is all about.”

Stop by our JCPenney Fine Jewelry Department to choose your ornament listing a special gift for a child in the CASA program or a resident of Capetown. You can wake up Christmas morning knowing you made someone’s holiday a little more special.

Gifting items start at as little as $5 -- and of course you are not limited to purchasing one -- if your heart leads you, choose a few special ornaments. Purchase the items and drop with the ornament attached into JCPenney’s giant gift box in the Fine Jewelry department for distribution through CASA and Capetown.

What a wonderful community we live in…and amazingly supportive group of JCPenney associates championing this project.

We’re quite proud to be part of the Cape Girardeau family and of the impact we’re able to make. Plus, we’re looking forward to a lot more small town fun in the future. Stop by JCPenney to visit with Mariah and the team to discover the “Worth of Giving”. For information call: 573-334-2881 ext. 307.
