The effects of power

When does it start? The evil that begins when a man gets the power to rule a country? How does the power corrupt the man who lives in the palace? What evil happens if he has to imprison/execute his opposition? The citizens suffer under his dictatorship for years waiting until many think there are enough of like-minded people that they could revolt. Then fighting begins from this group. Of course this powerful president has to send his army to put down the rebellion. How can his ego be so big that he watches his citizens being slaughtered and buildings in his country reduced to rubble? Is there no love of country, only love of power and the riches it brings?

Then it really gets complicated when other nations try to "help" the rebels or "help" the president to keep his power. I hope our next generation of young people can pay attention to learn the lessons that are being played out in many nations across this world today. When does it end?
